Steel – master in the recycling process

As the scarcity of raw material resources continues to worsen worldwide, recycling steel materials is becoming more and more important. Next to iron ore as the primary raw material, steel scrap is the most important raw material of all for many industries.

Rather than just one life, this material can have many lives. Thanks to high-quality recovery processes, steel can be fully recycled any number of times with no loss of quality. It also continues to be used in new products thanks to its outstanding characteristics. No other metal is as environmentally friendly to produce or makes such a valuable contribution to environmental and climate protection. The closed recovered substance cycle is proven to save raw materials and energy. A ton of steel produced from scrap saves 1.5 tons of iron ore, 0.65 tons of coal and 0.3 tons of limestone as well as reducing CO2 emissions by around 1 ton.
